A highly sensitive and selective fluorescence sensor for detection of chromium(VI) and hydrogen sulfide was developed by using silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) as probe. The fluorescence of SiNPs was effectively quenched by Cr(VI) via the inner filter effect.
